Swim Lessons

Our summer began with swim lessons. Zachary has become quite the little fish, while Miles is just doing ok to get in the water.

Miles turned 7 (April 28) and had his party at a local fire station. We got to take a tour of the fire station and each child got to sit in the front seat of the fire truck. The kids all had a blast.

Zachary turned 7 (March 7) and had his friends over for a "Backugan brawl". The boys ended up playing in the backyard and ditched the whole Backugan brawl they were planning on having. They had a great time just being boys.

We spent most of our Spring Break recovering from Zachary's tonsils and adenoids removal. We discovered his snoring issues when we were at Disney World in September. He wanted to have his nurse Mimi with him (guess he trusted her skills more than mine?). Even though he was scared too death, he was so brave. I think he was more upset about missing his first 2 days of school ever than the actual surgery! He was an excellent patient.

We traveled to Mimi's house in Jacksonville, Fl for some grandma time during our mid-winter break. The boys had a great time. We hung out and played and took a day trip to Sea World. Zachary loved everything about Sea World, but Miles was a little hesitant (as he usually is).

As many of you know, Miles does not sleep. This has been going on for quite a while and I finally decided it was time to see what (if anything) was going on. So, we got ready and headed to the "special hotel" where we were going to see how smart he was. I had to think of something to tell him that would not scare him. I was a nervous wreck. I was so afraid Miles was going to freak out when all the electrodes were connected to him. He did fantastic. The best part of the test was that his toe was red. He loved looking at it in the dark. I am not sure if Miles was so calm because that is his personality, or because the people at Scottish Rite are sent from Heaven above. They truly know how to work with kids and parents! When the study was over at 5:30 am, the nurse had to WAKE HIM UP. Yes, he slept ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!

Children's Museum

The weather has been so bad lately, and we needed a place to escape to let out all of our energy! My mom and I took the kids to the children's museum for a fun filled afternoon. Zachary enjoyed building a tower and Miles enjoyed the Bob the Builder exhibit. Miles even put on a pair of tap shoes and a "Fancy Vest" and entertained us!

Holiday Happenings

We have been up to so much lately getting ready for the holidays. The boys have helped decorate the trees, made cookies and been to visit Santa. This is the first year that both of the boys have enjoyed seeing Santa.

Against My Better Judgement!

Sign on Miles' class door that read: Adopt Salem for the weekend. I could have totally let this slide, but Zachary was able to read the sign on the classroom door. Reading is good, but it can get you in trouble sometimes. So, Zachary then told his brother about this and both of them were so excited, I had to give in. Remember, this is TOTALLY against my better judgement. Of course when the day came to get the pet, the teachers all promised me that there is nothing too watching Salem for the weekend. All I could think about is what if something happens on my watch????
Needless to say, the boys had a great time with the pet this weekend. And, the teachers were right, nothing too it! I have to admit, it wasn't as bad as I thought. I am glad we can take him back!!!!!

Halloween

We went over to a friend's house to trick or treat. The boys both had more candy than they would ever eat BEFORE we went trick or treating. The boys rode a hay ride while getting candy. They had a good time despite the cold weather and were worn out by the time we got home.

Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins the night before halloween. The boys each had an idea of what their pumpkins should look like. Zachary wanted his pumpkin to look like a bat and Miles wanted his to be happy. So, we set out to create the pumpkins. All was going well until we put the pumpkins outside. The next time we looked at the creations we had made, they did not look the way we carved them, unless you count the teeth marks???? Maddie-our so sweet family dog was running around the yard with orange on her face. She was guilty!!!
Despite the dog chewing up the creation, we had fun!

Zachary's First Book Report

Zachary just completed his first book report. He had to read a book and then design a pumpkin to look like the main character in the book. He really enjoys reading Mercy Watson books, so we read Mercy Watson-Princess in Disguise. We decorated the pumpkin to look like the main character-Mercy who happens to be a pig.

It's Fall

We recently visited the pumpkin patch and had a great time. You know you live in the south when you go to a pumpkin patch that has pig races! The best part of the day was the maize-we got lost!!!!

Forgotten Favorites

So, I went back through all the disney pictures again and realized, I forgot to put 2 of my favorites on the blog. The one of Zachary is him sitting with Walt and Minnie Mouse. We took this the night we were trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom. The one of MIles is him walking off the ride-It's a Small World. Notice the crooked ears and him holding his daddy's finger. Too cute!

Walt Disney World-September 2008

We took our family vacation during our September break to Walt Disney World. Both boys had an incredible time! Zachary loved all the rides ESPECIALLY the roller coaster ones. He has no fear! Miles loved the characters, riding the buses and Its a Small World ride. We ate several meals with the characters and that was a hit! We even got to Trick or Treat around the Magic Kingdom and see Mickey and Minnie in their costumes.

Soccer Fall 2008

So...both boys have started soccer this fall. We spend more time at the soccer field than we do at home! Zachary is playing in the Academy of Excellence and Miles is playing Parents and Tots. They both LOVE it. Soccer is fun, but the best part seems to be the new found love of Powerade!

So, Zachary started school on Monday. He loves his teacher! He is so happy to have a notebook that he has to carry home each day! He is such a big boy!!!!!

Centennial Olympic Park

We went to Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown Atlanta for one last fun trip before I had to go back to work. Brielle and TJ also went with us. All of the kids had so much fun. While were there, another boy ran into Zachary and knocked a tooth out....AND, guess what? We lost the tooth! All in all, the kids had a blast!
We have had a great summer and I have really enjoyed getting to do many fun things and spending time with the kids. Back to school we go!

Backyardigans

We spent a week in Jacksonville visiting family. While we were there, Mimi surprised the boys with a trip to see the Backyardigans. They had a blast!

July 4th

Road Trip to Grammy's

Zachary was at soccer camp for the week, so Miles and I decided to take a road trip to Grammy's. Cousin Madison was there as well, which made the trip that much more fun. Miles had so much fun visiting everyone, but really enjoyed the train downtown.

Swimming Lessons and VBS

The boys just completed swimming lessons and on the same day finished 5 days worth of VBS.
Zachary has become quite the fish in the water and Miles has started to put his face in the water. Much progress over last year!
Both boys had a wonderful time at VBS this year. They loved singing the songs!

Zachary is officially a first grader! WOW!!!! He had his end of the year program on Wednesday and did very well! They sang several songs and played the cutest slide show of all the kids. On Friday, the Kindergarten classes had a luau. Zachary and I are so happy to be finished with school until next year!

Zachary Field Day

Zachary participated in his first field day today. He had so much fun running around and playing games all day long. Zachary's favorite part of field day was the "sponge walk".

Miles turns 3!

Hard to believe that Miles is 3! We had a party at the park for him. He wanted to go to the park with the "Choo Choo" and eat grapes. He is into Thomas the Train, so we had a Thomas party!

Spelling Test

Zachary had his first spelling test. He did WONDERFUL!!! He was so proud of his test! What a big boy!

Spring Break 08

We had a great Spring Break. We traveled to Myrtle Beach to introduce the boys to their cousin Madison. We had a great time, despite the cooler than normal weather. We went to the beach and visited the popular Boardwalk at the Beach where the boys rode on several rides.
We also visited the zoo with the Leeths. We had a great time as usual!
Back to work and school for a few more months before we are out for the summer!!

Zachary turns 6!!!

Zachary had a bowling party with 12 of his closest friends to celebrate his birthday. He had a great time...the hit was laser tag!

Easter 2008

We had a very busy Easter season. We had our annual Easter Egg Hunt at church on Palm Sunday. The boys always have so much fun.
The Easter Bunny came to visit Easter Sunday. The boys had fun with their goodies. They looked so cute at church!

Soccer

Miles played soccer this winter and had a ball! His favorite skill he learned was sitting on the ball. Zachary has also started soccer again for the spring season. Here are some pictures of the boys playing soccer.

Our First Lost Tooth!!!

Zachary lost his first tooth on Friday at school. By the time he realized he lost the tooth, the tooth was gone =( Zachary's teacher wrote a note to the tooth fairy explaining what had happened. The tooth fairy visited Zachary...left him a note and also $5. WOW!!!

Snow Days!!!!

Can you believe it? We had snow! I think it has been 3 years since we have seen snow. The boys were so excited about it. Zachary had a ball....he made snowballs and a snow angel. Miles kept saying, "I no like snow!" Regardless, we enjoyed it!

Children's Museum

We took the boys to the Children's Museum. They had a blast with all the hands on activities. Zachary enjoyed building a "house" out of pvc pipes and Miles had fun in the kitchen/play house area.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The boys had a wonderful holiday. They got EVERYTHING they ever wanted from santa and then some. I took over 100 pictures, then erased them all. oopps=(!! I made the boys pose several times after the fact with the favorite toys.

We hope everyone has a Happy 2008! I am going to TRY to update the blog monthly. We shall see how this goes!
